  • Objective: Develop literature-based discussion
  • Activities: 1) Quickwrite on key characters/themes, 2) Discussion, 3) SSR & Quickwrite
  • Homework: Read & Annotate with Level 2-3 notes p.54-65 in Of Mice and Men (OMAM)

Wednesday 11/26
  • Objective: Apply pre-reading activities to themes in the novel
  • Activities: 1) Quickwrite on Opinionnaire as it relates to the text, 2) Discussion, 3) Re-visit WebQuest knowledge
  • Homework: 1) Read & Annotate with Level 2-3 notes p.66-83 in Of Mice and Men (OMAM); 2) Do any make-up work needed! 3) Read your SSR book! 4) Consider Challenge work!

  • Homework: Read and annotate with Level 2-3 thought chapter 1 in Of Mice and Men (p.1-16)
Tuesday 11/18
  • Objective: Review character elements, read, and practice grammar usage
  • Activities: 1) Good/well practice, 2) SSR & Quickwrite, 3) Character elements
  • Homework: How does Steinbeck develop the character pair of George and Lennie? What important details are included, and what is their significance? 1 full page, organized into paragraph(s) and chunks
Wednesday 11/19
  • Objective: Analyze character development
  • Activities: 1) Good/well practice, 2) Character sketches
  • Homework: Read and annotate with Level 2-3 thought chapter 2 in Of Mice and Men (p.17-36)
Thursday 11/20
  • Objective: 1) Demonstrate appropriate use of good/well, 2) SSR reading
  • Activities: 1) Quiz on good/well, 2) SSR & QUickwrite
  • Homework: How does Steinbeck develop Curley and the other men in the camp as characters? What important details are included, and what is their significance? 1 full page, organized into paragraph(s) and chunks
Friday 11/21
  • Objective: Translate literature into drama
  • Activities: 1) Open Mic!, 2) Generate script from the text, 3) Rehearse performance
  • Homework: Read 25-30 pages in your SSR book and annotate with 6-10 Level 2-3 notes. You should be about 3/4 way through your book by the end of the weekend.

  • Field Trip to see "Romeo & Juliet" at MassArt! Meet in the 3rd floor caffeteria at 9:20 SHARP! Bring a coat.
  • Period 2 Activities Only: 1) SSR & Quickwrite, 2) Jugsaw with WebQuest knowledge
  • Homework for everyone: Write a 4+ chunk reflection on the production of Romeo & Juliet, responding to one of the questions on pages 6-11 in the Romeo & Juliet packet
Friday 11/14/08
  • Objective: Build knowledge of key connections to OMAM
  • Activities: 1) Open Mic, 2) Play debrief, 3) Good/Well practice, 4) Jigsaw with WebQuest knowledge
  • Homework: Read 25-30 pages in your SSR book & annotate with 6-10 Level 2 & 3 notes. You should be about half way through your book.
